Career Overview

Emmanuel Emeka Anyagwa, (BA, MA, PhD (In view), FIBM, FNIM, MNIPR, AMFI, MIQMS, the Principal Partner/CEO of Reli Communications Ltd. had his early education at St Peter Claver’s Seminary Okpala, Owerri, Imo State, and later went to the University of Lagos where he had a Master’s degree in English Language with a specialization in Sociolinguistics. He also had a post-graduate diploma in Public Relations from Times Journalism Institute, Lagos. He has been certified professionally in Microfinance, Public Relations, Journalism, Brand Management, Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015 certification), Essential Selling Skills (ESS), Modern Electioneering Campaigns, and Marketing. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. programme in Business Development and Management. He started his working career in 1999 with Turning Point Newspapers, publishers of The Comet, now The Nation as a Business Correspondent. During this period, he developed copy ideas, researched, reported, wrote, and proofread stories and features. Two of his stories on women and children won awards during the period. He joined FedEx Red Star Express Plc. where he served as Corporate Affairs Manager and Key Accounts Manager (Manufacturing) respectively from 2002 to 2009. In these capacities, he managed the company’s corporate reputation and brand and was able to promote the brand significantly. He initiated and managed the Red Star Scholarship Foundation, (Corporate Social Responsibility that provided scholarship grant for the education of children from poor homes), NIACA Corporate Affairs Committee (Team that promoted social interactions among international courier companies), and RSE Media Club (Team of reporters that promoted the company's image and brand). Emma edited the company’s magazine and other internal and external communications materials. He also managed company events, trade fairs, sponsorship, government, and community relations. He ensured effective key customer relationships and developed marketing strategies that increased revenue and market share of the company. Emma worked with the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) as Head, Corporate Affairs. In this position, he edited and produced all internal and external literature; developed the Institute’s website content, and also managed all her events, marketing communications, media relations, and sponsorship. When he left CIBN, he established a consulting firm known as Reli Communications Limited and became the Principal Consultant/CEO. Reli Communications is a Consulting, Research, Process Development, Marketing Communications and Public Relations Company. They are the publishers of The Qoheleth; A journal of Life quarterly magazine. During this period, spearheaded by him, it developed and assisted in implementing media, marketing, and communication strategies for organizations’ products and services. Reli managed company’s brands, events, websites contents, Corporate Social Responsibilities, and customer relations through which they promoted the relationship between such companies and their target markets thereby enhanced sales and profit. Reli, under Emma’s leadership was also involved in training staff in communications skills, Quality Management System (For ISO certification), customer relations, marketing strategies, sales, and brand management. Reli also assisted organizations in research areas such as impact assessments, feasibility studies, market surveys; competition, product, and employee analysis. Through Emma's leadership, the company consulted for government agencies, companies such as Mayakorp Nigeria Ltd, Nuel Ojei Ltd, Union Express Ltd, Emo Oil & Petrochemicals Ltd, ABC Transport, Swissdarl Logistics, Red Star Express and others. The company assisted in setting up new businesses, managed existing ones, and restructured those with organizational and structural challenges. It assisted companies such in designing communication and brand structures and also conducted internal quality management audit for organizations towards their ISO certification. They have consulted for NGOs such as Grooming Centre, Opera Don Bonafacio, News By Nigeria, Rome and The Nigeria Market Leaders Association as well as political parties such as KOWA, PDP, and APGA. In this area, they designed campaign strategies that made them win elections at various times. Emma Anyagwa has edited and published many books, journals, and magazines for individuals and organizations. He has organized various social interest programmes to assist in promoting youth empowerment, poverty alleviation, wealth creation and employment opportunities. They include; 1. Annual Entrepreneurship Skills Acquisition Boot Camp 2. Youth Empowerment & Business Mentorship Workshop 3. Online Business Education & Coaching 4. Information Technology Solutions Boot Camp 5. Youth Leadership & Enterprise Development Seminar. Between 2018 and 2020, Emma was contracted to assist in setting up the Centre for Research in Enterprise and action in Management (CREM). During this period, he assisted in setting up the company’s process manual, set the standard for research processes as well as facilitated in training and social event programmes. Emma Anyagwa is a Fellow of the Institute of Brand Management of Nigeria (FIBMN), a Member of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (MNIPR), Institute of Quality Management System (IQMS), Nigeria Institute of Marketing (NIM), and an Associate of Institute of Microfinance. He is a Director of News By Nigeria (an online newspaper), and publisher of The Qoheleth (an online blog). He has held leadership positions among which were the President of St. Peter Claver Seminary Okpala Old Boys Association, Lagos Chapter, President of Get Circle Club, and Chairman of Ngor Okpala Town Union in Lagos. He was the one time Clerk of the Students’ Union Government of the University of Lagos, Coordinator of Exam Ethics Project, President of Young Catholic Professionals, Catholic Parish Laity Council, and Chairman of Corporate Affairs Managers of Nigeria International Courier Companies (NIACA). He is the author of Echoes from the Qoheleth, Handbook for Winning Elections in Nigeria, and publisher of The Qoheleth, a journal of life. He is a social media blogger, trainer, and motivational speaker. He was presented various papers during workshops and conferences both in Nigeria and abroad. He is married with children. His hobbies include mentoring, writing, music, social interactions, and counseling. He is the Initiator and Chief Executive Officer of Reli Entrepreneurship Skill Acquisition Boot camp.
